Common questions

What a visit actually involves

Everything below is how it genuinely works, not how it sounds best.

How do I book?
You book directly online at ksblends.com. Pick a service, choose a time that suits you, and the appointment is confirmed. No phone call, no Instagram message and no back-and-forth is needed. The website is the booking system, and it shows only times that are genuinely free.
How far in advance can I book?
Up to 91 days ahead. The calendar shows the days with room; anything further out simply is not offered yet.
Do you only cut hair at homes?
No. I cut at homes, workplaces, hotels, care homes and events. Anywhere with a chair, decent light and a socket. Most visits are homes, but the service is wherever you are.
Do you come to my house?
That is the entire service. There is no shop and never has been. The chair, the clippers, the mirror and the light all arrive with me, and I bring something to catch most of the cut hair. You provide a socket, somewhere to sit down, and the sweep-up afterwards.
What do I need to have ready?
A chair, decent light and a socket within reach. Most people use the kitchen. I bring everything else, including something to catch most of the cut hair. The sweep-up afterwards is yours.
Which areas do you cover?
Rochdale, Bury, Bolton, Chorley, Oldham, Wardle, Heywood, Middleton, Todmorden, Chadderton, Manchester, Littleborough, Royton, Norden, Ashton-under-Lyne, Milnrow, Shaw and Crompton, Castleton, Whitworth, Prestwich, Rawtenstall, Bamford, and the surrounding areas across Greater Manchester. Rather than make you guess from a postcode list, the booking page checks your address against the areas I actually work and tells you straight away, before you have entered a card or committed to anything.
What days and times can I book?
Wednesday to Saturday, 10am until 9pm, with the last appointment starting at 8pm. Midday to 6pm is the standard price. Before midday or at 7pm there is an out-of-hours charge, and 8pm is double that again. It is a late finish once I have driven home. How much depends on how far out you are, and the exact figure is shown on the time itself before you choose it, so you will never meet it for the first time at checkout. What the site offers you is genuinely free: you will never be given a slot that is already gone.
Will you arrive exactly at the time I book?
You are booking an arrival window, not a minute on a clock: I will be with you within 15 minutes either side. A mobile round moves with the traffic, and a barber who promises you 2:15 exactly is either guessing or about to rush somebody else's haircut to keep his word. If anything shifts at my end, you hear it from me before you notice it yourself.
How much does it cost?
From £35, with the exact figure set by how far I travel to you. The diesel and the hour on the road are part of the job and I price them honestly rather than hiding them in the haircut. Whatever it comes to, you see it before you book. Nothing is discussed on your doorstep.
How do I pay?
Card online when you book, or cash on the day, £2.00 less, because cash costs me nothing to take. Nothing is charged up front. Card details are held by Stripe, never by me and never by this site.
Can I change or cancel?
Yes. Changing or cancelling is free, no questions, any time more than 12 hours before your appointment. Inside 12 hours a cancellation fee applies which depends on your zone: £30.00 in Zone 1, £35.00 in Zones 2 and 3, £40.00 in Zones 4 to 6. Cancelling inside 2 hours, or not being there, is charged at the full price of the booking. The fee is not a penalty. It covers a slot held empty for you and a route built around it that I can no longer fill, and all of it is stated before you book, not buried in terms afterwards.
Can I book for later today?
Ask, and it reaches me as a request rather than a confirmed slot. Anything starting within 13 hours I approve by hand, because a same-day booking that quietly lands in the diary while I am already out on the road is how people get let down. Nothing is charged for one, and nothing is charged if you change your mind.
What is the difference between a mobile barber and a barbershop?
The cut is the same. Everything around it is not. There is no queue, no waiting room and no drive, and the chair is wherever suits you: kitchen, garden, garage. It is one person for one appointment, so nobody is rushed to clear a shop, and you get the same barber every time rather than whoever is free. The trade-off is honest: you book a time rather than walking in.
Is a mobile barber more expensive than a barbershop?
Yes, and the reason is travel rather than the haircut. From £35 depending on the area, against roughly £15 to £25 in a shop round here. What closes the gap is the hour you do not spend getting there, waiting and getting back. The price is shown before you book, so nothing is decided at the door.
How long does a home haircut take?
45 minutes for a haircut, 15 for a beard trim on its own, and an hour for both. That is the whole visit, setting up and packing down included. Most of the cut hair is caught as I go; the sweep-up afterwards is yours.
Do you clean up afterwards?
No. The clean-up is yours. I bring something to catch most of the cut hair, but sweeping up afterwards is the one part of the visit that stays with you.
Can you cut more than one person in the same visit?
Yes, and it is the best way to book. Several people at one address go back to back in a single visit: a household, a couple of brothers, mates in one house. Book your own appointment first, then add the others onto it or send them a link to book themselves in.
Do you have to tip a mobile barber?
No. The price shown is the price, and nobody is judged for paying it. People do tip and it is appreciated, but it is not expected and there is no card machine turning the screen round at you.
Do you cut hair for children?
Gladly. The booking itself is made by someone 16 or over, and a parent or guardian is there on the day. That is not red tape, it is simply who I take the instructions from and who signs off on the result.
What can you do about thinning or receding hair?
Tell you the truth about it, which most men say no barber has ever done. What hot water and the wrong products are actually doing, which part of it is genuinely not inevitable, and how to cut it so it works with what you have instead of drawing attention to what you have not. Nothing is sold to you at any point. It is a conversation, and it costs nothing.
Do you do any discounts or loyalty rewards?
Two, and neither needs a card, an app or a code. Cash on the day is £2.00 less than paying online. And once you have 10 visits behind you there is £5.00 off in your birthday month. Both apply themselves. The price simply comes off when it is due, with nothing to claim or remember.
